Pragmata Privacy Policy

Pragmata (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension that displays the unverified (“Pull”) audience score on Rotten Tomatoes movie and TV pages. This policy explains what data is involved and how it is handled.

Summary: Pragmata does not collect, sell, or transmit your personal data. It only reads score information already on Rotten Tomatoes pages and saves optional display settings on your device.

1. Data we do not collect

The Extension does not:

Collect names, email addresses, or account credentials
Track browsing history outside its stated purpose
Use analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting
Send page content, scores, or settings to any remote server operated by us
Sell or share user data with third parties

2. Data handled locally

Page data. On rottentomatoes.com movie and TV pages, the Extension reads audience rating counts already embedded in the page (for example in #media-scorecard-json) to calculate and display the Pull score in your browser. That information stays in the tab; it is not uploaded by Pragmata.

Settings. If you change options in the popup, the Extension stores preferences such as:

Whether the overlay is enabled
Color threshold display
Whether to show the verified (“Push”) comparison
Whether to highlight the official score

These preferences are saved with Chrome’s chrome.storage.sync API on your device. If you use Chrome Sync, Google may sync those settings across your signed-in browsers according to Google’s Chrome privacy policy. Pragmata does not operate its own sync or backend service.

3. Permissions

Host access to https://www.rottentomatoes.com/* — required to inject the content script, read in-page score JSON, and show the overlay. No other websites are accessed.
storage — required only to save and restore the display preferences listed above.

The Extension does not use remote code. All scripts and styles are packaged with the Extension.

4. Children’s privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

5. Changes

We may update this policy if the Extension’s behavior changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when that happens. Continued use of the Extension after an update means you accept the revised policy.
